Congratulations to Kate Blauvelt and Amanda Houseley on the purchase of Lizzie. She will be a nice jumping and dressage partner for Amanda and broodmare too!
October 13, 2008:
We had a nice uneventful breeding season this year, thanks in large part to the wonderful folks at Iron Spring Farm. Ed is in foal to Indoctro and the other four (Ruby, Perlinda, Kitty and Solana) all had a date with UB40! We can't wait until next April and May!!
September 21, 2008:
The KWPN NA keuring was a 4 hour drive up toward Seattle at the Donida Equestrian Center. Poor Shelby, this keuring fell on her first birthday! We celebrated her birthday a week early so we didn't feel badly about dragging the little one to a horse show on her first birthday! Shelby brought us good kharma and we left with two orange ribbons for our two boys! Dasher won his class and was awarded First Premium and Dan, Perlinda's boy, also took a First Premium. Dan actually had a higher conformation score than Dasher but he didn't show off his gaits as well as Dasher did. Dan chose instead to do the tuck your tail trot behind mom I'm not sure what's going on trot. You just never know what the babies are going to think! It was a nice day and well worth the long drive. And I don't think Shelby was scarred by spending her first birthday at a horse show!
August 31, 2008:
A long few days of preparation and showing has been nicely rewarded! We ventured to the ISR/Oldenburg NA inspection and came home with more Premium awards and great comments from the judges. Sterling earned an 8.2 and Premium award and Faith was complimented on her gorgeous face and type. Whew! One inspection down and one to go!
June 6, 2008:
Solana surprised us today and delivered her colt out in the pasture at noon! All of her friends gathered 'round to help and the cute bay newcomer is doing great.
May 1, 2008:
Perlinda did not disappoint! She had a gorgeous bay colt by Rousseau that has the longest legs I've ever seen. As I was helping him out it seemed like I was 10 feet back from Patty's rear!! Kim is a very proud new owner/mom!
April 23, 2008:
Congratulations to Marlis Kuusela on the purchase of Calvin. He will be a nice dressage partner and all around horse for Marlis. He couldn't have gone to a nicer home!
April 15, 2008:
Congratulations to Kim Duffy on the purchase of Carissa and Perlinda's in-utero foal by Rousseau. Carissa will get to clean up at the breed shows and will be an awesome future dressage partner and broodmare. We both eagerly await Perlinda's foal!!
April Fool's Day! 2008:
Welcome to the world Dasher! Ruby had what appeared to be a clone of her other Rousseau foal, Zsunami, when she delivered Dasher. He has the same color and markings as his brother and hopefully the same talent!!
March 11, 2008:
Congratulations to Louise Helene Bastien on the purchase of Adonis. He is to be her new jumper! He gets to be a Trans continental traveler by going all the way to his new home in Quebec.
February 21, 2008:
Congratulations to Shirley Pederson on the purchase of Azzlin. We know she has a great home north of the border and she'll be a great dressage partner for Shirley.
November 9, 2007:
Congratulations to Heather Oleson on the purchase of our darling Carinda. Carinda is just precious and has found herself a great home. She gets to stay here and grow up with her friends for awhile before venturing off to her new digs. These two will be a force to be reckoned with in a few years!
September 21, 2007:
After waiting almost a month past her due date, Shelby Carissa Mattson finally arrived! She was in the small minority (3%) of babies that manage to be breech! So she arrived by C-section, which was actually a great experience. We are blessed with this happy cute little darling!
September 6, 2007:
The KWPN NA inspection was next on the agenda and it went great! We took 2 pairs- Perlinda & Carinda and Solana & Carissa. Both fillies showed like pros and we left with some nice orange ribbons! Both fillies were awarded First Premium and Carissa was first in the foal class and was also awarded the Best Young Horse award. What a fun day! There were some wonderful horses to drool over and some people drooling over mine! Once again it was worth the effort with great help from friends since I'm now overdue! Thank you Chris, Melissa, Carmen, Jamie, Elise, and Carrie B!!!
August 19, 2007:
With a lot of great help from our wonderful friends (since I'm 9 months pregnant!) we had a successful Oldenburg inspection journey. We took 8 horses (four mare and foal pairs) and somehow got them all to the ring and presented without a hitch. The stars of the day were Kitty, our black TB mare, who scored 100 points and was placed in the MMB, and Felisha
(Flemmingh Pref x Fortunate Lizzie), who scored an 8.2 for movement and 8.1 overall for her Premium award.
August 3, 2007:
Congratulations to Hita Johnson and Karl Craine on the purchase of the TB mare Chancy Shot! She now goes by the beautiful name of Eva. Eva is in foal to UB40 and should have a great foal next spring.
July 9, 2007:
Congratulations to Ariane Rezvani on the purchase of Zsunami! He is an awesome dressage horse, ready to begin his journey with a great partner. We are expecting a full sibling next spring and hope it will be as nice as him!
July 1, 2007:
Solana (Flemmingh x Nimmerdor) is back in foal to UB40! She should score again with this combination; her filly by UB40 this year, Carissa, is just spectacular.
June 16, 2007:
Patty caught on her foal heat to Rousseau, Legs (Zaloniki) is bred to UB40, and CeCe is in foal to UB40 also. So 2008 looks like this:
Ruby (Damiro B x Taxateur x Formateur) x Harmony's Rousseau
Ed x Olympic Ferro
Zaloniki (Contango x Consul x Uniform) x UB40
Kitty x Sempatico
Patty (Don Primaire x LeMexico) x Rousseau
Cece x UB40
June 2, 2007:
After breeding Miss Ed to Flemmingh four times in a row with wonderful results, I went out on a limb and bred her for next year to Olympic Ferro. She takes every time on one straw of frozen and this year was no different! Thank heaven for great producing fertile mares!
May 29, 2007:
Kitty is back in foal to Sempatico!
May 11, 2007:
Patty had our second UB40 foal of the year and she is definitely similar in type to Carissa. They are long lined and elegant and also very friendly. Patty's filly, Carinda, was worth the wait! Only one more foal to go to round out a great foaling season.
May 3, 2007:
We are excited to announce that Ruby is back in foal to Harmony's Rousseau. We decided to repeat this spectacular cross that produced her 3 year old, Zsunami.
April 30, 2007:

Solana very nicely delivered a gorgeous black filly by UB40 tonight at 9pm. After the rest of them going in the middle of the night I was excited to see her in labor so early. That meant I could be in bed by midnight! Carissa was up and nursing very quickly in spite of her impossibly long legs. As I did my bedtime check of everyone, it was obvious Lizzie wanted to join the party too! She delivered a wonderful filly by Flemmingh at 2am. So much for a good night's sleep! Felisha was born very friendly and loved scratching from the get go.
April 19, 2007:
Chris and I were off to Las Vegas for the World Cup, leaving foal watch duties to our wonderful friend, Melissa. She delivered great news that Harper foaled a beautiful bay filly by Sir Sinclair. We decided to call her Clair, hoping she'll follow in her sire's footsteps. This is the old gal Harper's last foal and she delivered just what we were hoping for!
April 13, 2007:
Sparky was next up to bat and she did beautifully with her first foal. She did it all like it was old hat, and her colt, Gideon by Goodtimes, is just what we asked for. He is big and strong with great markings on his dark buckskin coat. Hooray!
April 10, 2007:
After pacing and dripping for 2 days, Kitty finally foaled a huge filly by Sempatico! Kitty didn't appear that big but this huge filly popped out. She has excellent bone and nice black and white markings. Both Kitty and Soleil are doing great!
March 20, 2007:
Foaling season has had a wonderful start! Once again, Ed has produced a fabulous foal by Flemmingh, a buckskin filly we are calling Fiona. It's going to be a crazy April with 7 more foals due; hopefully they will all go as smoothly as the first!
Dec 27, 2006:
More congrats are due! Stephanie Smith and David Campbell have decided to purchase Brook (Orame x Rubicon/Damiro B). She will get to do both dressage and jumping with Stephanie. Brook should follow in her parents footsteps as a successful sporthorse and possibly a future broodmare.
Dec 10, 2006:
A big congratulations to Karla Baur and Jim Hicks on the purchase of Gretchen (Goodtimes x Fortunate Lizzie/Fortunate Lisa). She went to her new home just before Christmas and was warmly received by her babysitter friend Willy. Gretchen is destined for a fun career in dressage with Karla and a lifetime supply of treats from Jim.
Nov 16, 2006:
We are very excited to welcome a new addition to our family. Her name is Emma, but coming from Idaho she has been dubbed Spud. She has proven to be very smart and a great car dog, an absolute necessity in my line of work.
Nov 9, 2006:
Winter has come to us so quickly! Weaning is right around the corner. All of the horses are getting fuzzy and the mares are beginning to show their pregnancies. All but Callie are due to foal within a few weeks in April. We have plans to go to the World Cup in Las Vegas so I hope they don't get ideas while we are gone! Luckily we have great help for foal watch while we are out of town...
Nov 4, 2006:
Felicity (See Mares Page) was awarded a Premium Foal award at her ISR/Oldenburg NA inspection!
May 31, 2006:
Lizzie delivered a beautiful bay filly by Goodtimes. Pictures coming!
April 19, 2006:
Miss Ed delivered a perfect filly by Flemmingh at 1 AM this morning. Both mom and baby are doing great. This filly was meant to be - she was conceived using one ml straw of frozen on Ed's foal heat and we got the colored filly we had wished for. Sometimes the stars are just aligned so right.
